Going along with this display of newfound skills, in the spring of 2020, she was able to collaborate with CVS Health on innovative design thinking challenge. In this challenge, she utilized design thinking and began to work on a solution for a research question posed by CVS Health. Over the course of four months, Veronica was able to empathize, define and research, ideate, prototype, and test out a potential solution to their question. Through doing so, she came in third place and received a monetary award for her idea, as well as the potential of seeing her idea displayed in CVS stores around the nation in the future. Furthermore, she has also been able to maintain dean’s list status while taking part in various extracurricular and holding executive board roles in three different organizations on campus.
She chose Bryant University because of their devotion to student success. From the very beginning, it was evident that professors cared about their students and wanted their students to do well. Through seeing this through her own eyes, she fell in love with the idea of creating relationships with some of her professors. One of her mentors is her father, who through the years she has watched throughout his career and seen the impact that he has on people. Through watching his every step she followed in his footsteps and has pursued a similar career path to his.
The organization that has helped her the most during her time at Bryant was the Bryant Marketing Association. This was the first organization she expressed to me that she joined her freshman year at school. During one meeting, the president mentioned that they had executive board positions opening up as seniors were leaving so she made sure to stand out to the remaining members. In the end, she became the Membership Recruitment and Communications chair for the organization my sophomore year. This organization, helped get her out of her comfort zone and made her realize that she could do anything she put her mind to.
The Bryant Marketing Association really launched her into every other organization she joined. As she loved being part of a team and working with her peers. She earned a leadership position in this organization early on which helped boost her confidence. Going off of this, The Bryant Student Ambassador program pushed her even further outside my comfort zone. In this organization I gave tours to prospective students and assisted in open house events. I was able to get over my fear of public speaking through this role which was so important. The Bryant University Sales Team is one of my favorite organizations I have been apart of. I joined the executive board the semester of two sales competitions and was anxious to do a good job in my role. I learned so much in terms of social media from this role. I also furthered my confidence in public speaking as I competed in two sales competitions with this organization.
While not in the classroom, she loves to cook, when she studied abroad in Florence, Italy, where she took a cooking class for credit. Through doing this, she really discovered her passion for cooking and the love for enjoying a good meal with good company. Furthermore, her study abroad experience helped her develop a new level of confidence she didn’t have before. In the end she left her comfort zone when she left America, but it was exactly what she needed.
In the United States, and specifically where Veronica is from in New England, she is used to a fast-paced culture. While in Italy life was much more thoughtful. As she explained to me that people walk slowly to their destinations, and restaurants let you take your time in enjoying your meal. It was cool to live life in a different way. From my own experience I was able to see this first hand when I went to New York City. When I was in NYC me and my family went to Carmine's Italian Restaurant. Style & Entertainment
Style and entertainment are vital ways in which people express themselves. To Veronica, she thinks it is very important to find the style that resonates with you personally.
Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity
When I asked Veronica what her experience was with Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity, she expressed to me that her favorite experience with Alpha Omicron Pi was during her first recruitment weekend as a member. The three-day event was a great bonding experience for the chapter as a whole.
Adobe Photoshop & Google Adwords
When I asked Veronica about how she learned about Adobe Photoshop & Google Adwords she worked with the creative director during one of her internships. Through this internship, the creative director helped teach her basic Adobe Photoshop skills and helped her create basic designs and templates. During another internship, she was tasked with understanding Google Adwords. The previous person in charge of analyzing the Adwords had left and no one else knew how to read the information. Yet, Veronica was able to watch YouTube videos and figure out how to navigate Google Adwords and reiterate the information back to the company in a way they could understand.
