From the wise words his mother told him when he was 15 years old "if he wanted a car he would have to buy it on his own". From this talk he has gained experience in a wide variety of companies. After he applied for Red Cross lifeguarding classes, he got certified and sent in his applications, soon after he became consumed with working, filing up his schedule with as many jobs as he could handle.
In just one summer he was able to purchase his first car, covering both insurance and registration as well. Though he did not stop there and over the next four years he rose the lifeguarding ranks working at the highly regarded LifeTime athletics and becoming a head lifeguard at a private pool. Once he got to school he shifted his focus to gaining relevant experience in his field.
The first job he was able to attain was being a game day intern with the professional lacrosse team the New York Lizards (MLL). Through this position, he was able to gain valuable experience, teaching him everything that goes into a game day, how athletes prepare, how the from office operate and how a professional team operates as a business.
From this experience, he was able to meet individuals in his field, which provided him with invaluable connections and experience. when the summer ended he prioritized finding more experience immediately. With this drive he took initiative and cold called multiple companies suggesting marketing campaigns at his University. In return he was able to start three new projects. With Twenty, he was in charge of recruiting a team of interns that were to help market a new social media platform. Together as a team they strategized and executed events on campus/social media to help generate engagement.
With Junk in Your Trucks (A Barstool company) he was part of a recycling campaign that worked to reduce the amounts of plastic cups on campus all while marketing the recycled plastic based clothing line. As for JusTours he was also in charge of recruiting a team of student interns and creating a marketing plan to promote an assortment of affordable travel opportunities to students on campus. While each of these companies presented a new opportunity, it definitely gives Kai a peace of mind knowing that he can communicate with people that may speak different languages, which come from different cultures, especially in a recruitment role. Though he did not have to use it in this particular position.
His top accomplishment is being able to balance everything, while having the focus to study for upcoming tests and quizzes. Everyday he worked hard to maintain the balance and manage his time properly. In the end, he is proud of how far he has come in that aspect, although this was something that was extremely difficult for him having to adjust and become more organized.
Though he originally committed to Indiana University in Bloomington. He later learned that the Sports Management program at UMass was a perfect fit. From the campus, to getting along with the staff members he met, he was eager to become a part of the McCormack Sports Management programs long standing tradition of excellence in Sport.
Since a young age he's been collecting all types of sports memorabilia. From meeting athletes to being able to collect relics from his favorite sports. Kai has always been interested in meeting stars like Joe Montana or even Lawrence Taylor.
His Grandpa has always been a mentor, in his life he never met a harder worker and more compassionate family man. From the wise advice, to his lasting words of trusting his gut. His grandfather has been a great example of the man he wants to become.
Style & Entertainment:
To Kai, Style and Entertainment are two separate entities in his mind. While he likes to believe that style is an extension of oneself. Oftentimes style is the first impression people have of you offering a reflection or representation of who you want the world to view you as. While on the other hand, he believes that entertainment is a reflection of a community as a whole.
Thus, offering an escape from reality that is highly relatable, bringing diverse groups of people together.
Music is a passion of mine. Depending on my mood I adjust my taste, overall listening to a little bit of everything. For Kai, every Friday morning he starts off his day listening to all the week's brand new music releases.
Alpha Epsilon Pi at the University of Massachusetts is a great organization. It brought Kai together with a community of like minded hardworking students. Going along with this, the importance of philanthropy in communities, gave him real world experience running an organization with 100+ members. A highlight of that experience was being the Vice President of the formal Spring Recruitment.
From being creating a schedule, budget, organizing events on campus and being a point of contact for all my interested new members all while being a point of contact for all his interested new members representing the organization in a positive manner. Through all his hard work, he was able to recruit the largest spring class in organization history dating back to 1933.
